Child Tax Credit, 1997 - 2005, Zip Code
This datalayer provides for every zip code in the Commonwealth the total number of tax returns filed, the number of returns receiving the Child Tax Credit (CTC), the percent of returns receiving the CTC, and the percent change in the proportion of CTC recipients from 2005 – 2005. The Child Tax provides federal income tax relief for families with children; it excludes only very high-income filers from receiving credits. Two-parent households earning up to $110,000 per year may receive a tax credit of up to $1,000 per child. The value of the credits is reduced as household income rises. |

Earned Income Tax Credit, 1997 - 2005, Zip Code
This datalayer provides for every zip code in the Commonwealth the total number of tax returns filed, the number of returns receiving the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the percent of returns receiving the EITC, and the percent change in the proportion of EITC recipients from 2005 – 2005. The Earned Income Tax Credit lowers federal income taxes or results in tax refunds for workers with low wages. Households with qualifying children must earn an adjusted gross income of under roughly $38,000 and those without children under roughly $15,000 to be eligible for the credit. A high concentration of EITC recipients is one indication of a low-income neighborhood. |
